  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat and Prepare the Oven – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or a deep-dish pie plate with butter or non-stick cooking spray to prevent the apples from sticking.
  2. Step 2: Season the Apples – In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with the granulated sugar and cinnamon until every slice is evenly coated. Transfer the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread them out in an even layer.
  3. Step 3: Add the Salted Caramel – Drizzle the salted caramel sauce evenly over the top of the apples. Sprinkle the flaky sea salt over the caramel. This ensures that the salty-sweet flavor is distributed throughout the filling as it bages.
  4. Step 4: Mix the Crisp Topping – In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and nutmeg. Add the cold, cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  5. Step 5: Assemble and Bake – Spread the oat mixture generously over the apples. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. The topping should be golden brown, and the apple juices should be bubbling around the edges.
  6. Step 6: Cool and Set – Remove the crisp from the oven and let it sit for at least 10 to 15 minutes before serving. This resting time allows the caramel sauce and apple juices to thicken slightly, making it easier to scoop.
