A hearty and delicious dish that perfectly marries flavors inspired by the Mediterranean with minimal cleanup.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Feta cheese for garnish
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by browning the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat. Be sure to drain any excess fat.
  2. Next, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Now, stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, orzo pasta, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Top with crumbled feta cheese and freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

This dish pairs well with a simple side salad or warm, crusty bread. A glass of red wine enhances the flavors beautifully.
