  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon bits (crispy)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced pickled jalapenos (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat and Prepare – Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Spread the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the pan, ensuring they are not crowded so they can get extra crispy.
  2. Step 2: Initial Baking – Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. About halfway through, use a spatula to flip or toss the tots. Bake until they are deep golden brown and feel very firm to the touch. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder immediately after taking them out.
  3. Step 3: Add Toppings and Melt – Bunch the hot tots together slightly so they are touching. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and cooked bacon bits evenly over the top. Return the pan to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
  4. Step 4: Final Garnishing – Remove from the oven and let cool for one minute. Drizzle the sour cream over the top (or dollop it in the center). Sprinkle with fresh green onions and jalapenos if you like some heat. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
