  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Spread the frozen tater tots in a single layer, ensuring they aren’t overcrowded so they can crisp up evenly.
  2. Slide the baking sheet into the oven and bake the tots for 20 to 25 minutes. About halfway through, use a spatula to flip them. You want them to be extra golden brown and very crunchy, as they will soften slightly once the toppings are added.
  3. Once the tots are crispy, remove the tray from the oven. Sprinkle lightly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Evenly distribute the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the top of the hot tots.
  4. Return the tray to the oven for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly. For extra crispiness, you can turn on the broiler for the last 60 seconds, but watch closely so they don’t burn!
  5. Remove from the oven and immediately top with dollops of sour cream, sliced green onions, and jalapeños if you like a bit of heat. Serve while hot and cheesy.
