Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 2/3 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, or oat milk)
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 medium apple, chopped or grated
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional, for extra thickness)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a mason jar or a small sealable container, add the old-fashioned rolled oats, chia seeds, ground cinnamon, and a tiny pinch of salt. Stir them together so the spices are evenly distributed throughout the oats.
- Pour in your chosen milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir the mixture vigorously with a spoon to ensure there are no clumps of yogurt or dry pockets of oats at the bottom of the jar.
- Core and chop your apple into small, bite-sized pieces. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can grate the apple instead. Fold the apple pieces into the oat mixture until they are well incorporated.
- Secure the lid tightly on your container. Place the jar in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, though leaving it overnight is best for the creamiest texture. During this time, the oats and chia seeds will absorb the liquid and soften perfectly.
